Exposed
Friday June 7th, 2013 through Friday July 19th, 2013
Exposed is an exhibition of photographs by Crystal Vinson and Ginia Worrell, at Greenville Technical College's Riverworks Gallery. Each defines “exposed” as disarmed and vulnerable but each expose through opposite poles. Crystal Vinson’s photographs are hyper focused fashion images that undermine that glamorous artifice revealing a darkly humorous individual vulnerability. Ginia Worrell’s photographs assert the most personal exposure of herself and her individual, everyday life. Vinson disarms an individual’s hard edged performance in search of individuality. Worrell lays herself bare as a way of exploring her individuality and reconciling the parts to the whole. Vinson is currently a freelance graphic designer and photographer based in New York City. She began her career as an art student at Greenville Technical College where Worrell is currently a student.

Nina Liu and Friends Presents Work By Aggie Zed
Wednesday May 15th, 2013 through Monday July 15th, 2013
Nina Liu and Friends presents “Rear View Mirror: Selections from the Portfolio,” a retrospective of work by South Carolina native Aggie Zed, from May 15 through July 15. Zed, whose work is in the South Carolina State Museum's collection, produced the drawings in the exhibition over a span of nearly two decades. They range from minimal explorations of line and shape to complex compositions. Zed's personal imagery invites both elaborate interpretation and simple appreciation of the drawings. Zed also builds small sculptures from wire, clay, and found objects, calling the more complex works “scrap floats.” These objects blur lines between man/animal and machine and invite the viewer to invest them with broad meanings or to enjoy them for their complexity.

Early 20th Century Quilts
Wednesday December 19th, 2012 through Sunday August 4th, 2013
The Charleston Museum presents an original exhibition, Early 20th Century Quilts, in its Historic Textile Gallery. The exhibit spans the tumultuous years from 1900 through the 1930s, displaying the patterns and fabrics that make this era's quilts so distinctive. Periods of turmoil in the early 20th century, sparked by World War I, the coming of the second World War and social change born out of the Suffrage Movement, the Roaring 20s and the Great Depression, were met with renewed vigor by quilters across the country. Women in all walks of life continued to find satisfaction, artistic expression, delight and even comfort in designing and sewing quilts such as those in Early 20th Century Quilts.
